Folegandros/Amore

Folegandros is a small Greek island, located in the middle of the Aegean Sea and difficult to reach. Inhabited almost exclusively by the local population (fishermen, farmers, shepherds), and buffeted all summer by the Meltemi wind, it has not yet become a favourite destination for tourists. Milanese designers and architects Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda discovered the island in 2006 and fell in love with it, so they decided to design and build Casa Azul, a white L-shaped holiday home. In 2020 they decided to make a work in homage to the island and its inhabitants, the true wealth of the place. So they produce a photographic book with Theo Vranas, entitled Amore/Folegandros. Federico Fenucci's short film takes up the book, analysing the archaic beauty of the faces that inhabit the island and the geographical and ethnographic change that seems to be looming inexorably over all Greek islands. In parallel he interview curators and journalists (both Italian and non-Italian) to investigate their ideas about the book and the island, thus creating an alternating montage of landscapes, faces, sounds and photographs.
