Capitol Castle

A short film-manifesto by the architect Benedikt Hartl, founder of the Munich-based firm Opposite Office, on democracy, moralisation and social inequality. Following the storming of the Capitol in Washington D.C. (06/01/2021), the seat of the US parliament, the film depicts the building becoming a fortress. A metaphor intended to show a version of democracy that is forced to hide behind ever-higher walls when society is divided. The architect, however, states that this is not the solution.
