Robin Hood Gardens: A brief history

This is the latest instalment of the bond that the director has formed with the famous London residential estate Robin Hood Gardens, which was designed at the end of the 1960s by architects Alison and Peter Smithson and completed in 1972. The film summarises the decline, destruction and regeneration – as the renamed Blackwall Reach development that increased the number of homes from 213 originally to 1,575 – including clips from the two previous documentaries in 2015 and 2018, as well as footage from 2021. The voiceover features the Smithsons in an attempt to explore what the true vision for the estate was.
